Your mission

Role Summary

We are hiring a Nanofabrication Process Engineer to lead hands-on process development for our photonic modulators. This role requires deep semiconductor manufacturing expertise, flexibility to adapt quickly, and close collaboration with technicians and engineers. You will drive nanofabrication efforts in-house while also ensuring that internal processes are aligned and integratable with external foundry runs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, qualify, and troubleshoot nanofabrication processes in the cleanroom, including lithography, etching, thin-film deposition and characterization.

  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting and root cause analysis of process deviations, driving solutions for yield and performance improvements.

  • Develop clear, reproducible process documentation and specifications suitable for handover to external partners, foundries, or internal prototyping lines

  • Execute and manage related projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with technical and business objectives.

Your profile

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive technical experience in lithography, dry/wet etching, thin-film deposition, and metrology.

  • Comfortable collaborating with technicians in a shared lab environment on a daily basis and with technicians and engineers along the entire value chain.

  • Proven ability to take a process from development to a reproducible handover.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to pivot or iterate quickly based on results and evolving project needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with at least one full process flow from development through to prototyping or pilot production.

  • Experience developing fabrication processes for photonic or semiconductor devices.

  • Familiarity with design-for-manufacturability (DFM) in photonic ICs.

  • Prior experience working in a startup or small R&D team environment.

  • German is a plus
